Turning Research into Impact: Our Journey at AORTIC 2025 in Tunisia

Bringing together leading voices in cancer research across Africa and beyond, AORTIC 2025 in Hammamet, Tunisia, served as a powerful platform for advancing evidence, strengthening collaboration, and translating ideas into action for more equitable cancer care across the continent.

The 15th International Conference on Cancer in Africa (AORTIC 2025) was held from 2–5 November 2025, Hammamet, Tunisia, under the theme “Advancing Cancer Care Across Africa: Equity through Empowering Research and Education.” Organized by the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), the conference serves as a premier biennial platform that brings together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, advocates, and implementation partners committed to strengthening cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control across the African continent.

AORTIC 2025 emphasized capacity building, regional and global collaboration, evidence-based cancer care, and the translation of research into policy and practice. The conference provided a critical forum for disseminating African-led research and strengthening partnerships aimed at addressing persistent inequities in cancer care. Through scientific sessions, symposia, oral presentations, and poster sessions, participants shared innovations, evidence, and best practices contributing to improved cancer outcomes across Africa.

REACCT-CAN PhD and postdoctoral fellows actively participated in AORTIC 2025, joining senior researchers and oncologists in contributing to this high-level scientific exchange. They delivered oral presentations and poster presentations, showcasing their research findings and engaging in discussions on cancer care, research advancement, and capacity strengthening across the continent.
